Supply Chain
In the first phase BMSICL has successfully supplied drugs to all medical colleges and hospitals and to the districts falling under Purnea, Tirhut and Patna division from 4th December 2013. In the second phase all districts of the state are being supplied drugs by BMSICL, this includes all Medical Colleges and hospitals of the state.
Supply Chain starts with the requisition of medicines by the Primary health Centres and these requisitions are consolidated by the Civil Surgeon at the district headquarter and the same is sent online to BMSICL. On receipt of these requisitions the same are analysed by the respective warehouse based on which the delivery of medicines starts.
Warehouse
In the first phase, BMSICL has built state of the art warehouses at Fatuha, Muzaffarpur and Purnea. These Warehouses are equipped with all modern facilities and have been built using the most advanced techniques which is a first for Bihar.
The functional drug storage area at Fatuha is 30000 sq. ft., at Muzaffarpur is 25000 sq. ft. and at Purnea is 32000 sq. ft.
All the three warehouse are equipped with advanced pallet racking system which has resulted in optimal usage of space, in fact the usage space has increased by almost 2.5 times of the existing area. The movement of drugs is being done vide stackers at the warehouses which ensures the safe loading and unloading of the drugs from the racks. Walk-in coolers (cold chain) have been installed at the three warehouses for the medicines which require temperature range between 2-8 degrees for safe storage.
